Lucio Dupuy's Grandfather Says Ángel López's Death is a 'Carbon Copy' of His Grandson's Case

The grandfather of Lucio Dupuy, murdered four years ago, compared the case of 4-year-old Ángel López's death to his grandson's story, stressing that his fight for the 'Lucio Law' has not yielded results.

Lucio Dupuy's Grandfather Says Ángel López's Death is a 'Carbon Copy' of His Grandson's Case

Ramón Dupuy, the grandfather of Lucio Dupuy, who was murdered four years ago at the hands of his mother and her partner who subjected him to a severe beating, stated that his grandson's case is a 'carbon copy' of the story of Ángel López, the minor from Chubut who died on April 5 and whose mother is being investigated for the fact. In an interview with the Argentine News Agency, the Lucio's relative recounted that he is 'very shaken' and explained: 'It's a carbon copy of Lucio, his murder taught nothing and the fight we have been waging for four years was of no use either.' This 'fight' is linked to the insistence that the 'Lucio Law' be complied with, which was approved in 2023, aims to compulsorily train all officials who work with children, strengthen complaint protocols in situations of risk and improve coordination between provincial and national bodies. Meanwhile, little López, 4 years old, was found without vital signs in his home in the Chubut city of Comodoro Rivadavia, he died in the hospital and Mariela Altamirano, the boy's mother, is being investigated for the fact. In recent public statements, she even had to assure: 'I did not kill my son.' The woman's account indicated: 'We got up early and decided to lift Ángel to go to the bathroom, because he used to sleep a lot lately and didn't get up to go to the bathroom.' Now, this hypothesis takes on more strength after the first expert confirmations that the minor had internal head injuries. In the middle of the case, a raid was ordered at the mother's home where cell phones and other elements of interest to the investigation would have been seized. 'Then I started to do CPR on him and called the ambulance immediately,' he emphasized and recounted that they went out into the street shouting with Ángel in their arms, but when they arrived at the hospital they were told that 'he had vital signs, but he lacked oxygen'. However, the main hypothesis points to the complaints made by the child's father and his circle. 'He was sleeping, I could hear him snoring.'
